Having always wanted to teach, I obtained my BA and MA in elementary education at the University of Florida and sought my first job as a third grade teacher. While I loved teaching, I disliked the bureaucracy of the public school system and the focus on standardized tests. When I became a mother, I found that the calling to be home with my own children was too strong to ignore. Therefore, I happily took a break from my classroom teaching job to raise my kids, and I`m finding that life as a homeschooling mom of two is extremely rewarding and tons of fun.

In addition to being an educational consultant with Usborne Books, I recently helped found two new sites for families in the Orlando area. The Central Florida Green Guide is geared towards families who are interested in a more holistic lifestyle, with the main content being “Honest Reviews by Real Moms” of local practitioners and more. Hands on Homeschooling is a site with a similar format, but the focus is on local learning experiences that give kids opportunities to learn through real life rather than just paper/pencil activities. I also work as a homeschool consultant via phone and through real life chat. I help families who are just getting started learn about different approaches to homeschooling and their options for complying with the state law.
